FB Maretplace tends to get me "a lot". I purchased this beauty in 2002 with intentions to start right away. Life happens and now it is 2 years later. It's time for a makeover! I love the medallion on the top and the sturdiness of the table. It will return to the breakfast nook soon...all "dolled up".
She is a litte rough around the edges, but not for long. Stay tuned!
The top of this table is veneer. Yes, you can sand* veneer. You just need to know a couple of things....1 - start with 100 grit sandpaper, 2 - let the sander do the work (I used a Craftsman 5" Orbital Sander), and 3 - Use a 150 grit sandpaper for a smooth finish (after removing all of the orginal stain/varnish).
I will continue around the edges of the table, so that will be next.
*When sanding, be in a well-ventilated area, use a respirator or filtered face-mask that covers your nose and mouth and wear safety glasses.
