What a find! A great 2-drawer dresser/entry table/sofa table

Well, yes, I do have several other pieces to work on, and yes, there are many items that would love to show off their beauty.  However, when you stumble upon a great piece, it is hard to pass over. That is the case with this sideboard!  I was truly smitten, so off the hubby and I went to pick it up!  I am so glad we did.

I loved the mahogany veneer on the drawers.  Unfortunately the veneer on the top (already removed), and the sides were not salvageable.  I used a citrus stripper (non toxic) to remove the old varnish on the drawers.  After that, a good cleaning all over with Krud Kutter, and some minor repairs. I sanded the areas for a very smooth surface with my Craftsman cordless orbital sander in 100, 120, 220 and 600 grit.   I used Fusion Mineral Paint in the color "Ash", and finished it off the veneer drawer fronts with Fusion Mineral Paint's Tough Coat (Matte).  Whenever doing a top coat on a dark paint, it is a good practice to use FMP's Natural Stain & Finishing Oil.  This works great and gives you the added protection for your piece.  I replaced the drawer pulls with some in my "stash" and gold is back on trend.

This piece would look great in an entry way, as a sideboard, sofa table or a chest of drawers.

I absolutely love the finished product.  It is so hard not to keep this one.  It will find a new home soon.
